Official statement released: Ahmet Davutoğlu announces the dissolution of the Future Party

While Davutoğlu's decision was expected as he held meetings with his staff, his absence from the New Path Group Meeting held in parliament also drew attention.

It has been announced that Ahmet Davutoğlu's Future Party has been dissolved.

Making a statement from his official X account, Davutoğlu used the following expressions:

"As a result of the consultations we held with our party's authorized bodies and the fellow travelers who have brought the Future Party to this day, we have decided to withdraw from party politics and terminate the political activities of the Future Party in order not to be a part of the polluted political climate."

PLANS TO ESTABLISH A THINK TANK

Following his departure from politics, Davutoğlu plans to establish a think tank. It is expected that Davutoğlu, whose previously founded Science and Arts Foundation (BİSAV) was placed under the management of a trustee, will begin work to establish a new think tank.

Davutoğlu, who has been meeting with provincial chairmen and party members for a few days, will attend the Presidential Board meeting tomorrow at 14.00. Davutoğlu is expected to make a statement to the press after this meeting.

The statements used by Davutoğlu in his post on his social media account titled 'For the Turkey of Tomorrow' are as follows:

"Humanity is going through a profound civilizational rupture.

The systems of thought that give meaning to human existence are being shaken; artificial intelligence and technological transformation are reshaping the relationship between humans and information. Successive geopolitical earthquakes, wars and genocides, deepening economic injustices, and new forms of colonial domination are displacing the supporting pillars of the international order established after the Second World War.

This global upheaval is deeply shaking not only the international system but also regional balances, national institutions, and social fabrics.

Turkey is at the intersection of all these ruptures. Our country, located on the fault lines of history, is facing both extremely serious risks and the possibility of a major strategic leap at the same time.

The conditions for minimizing the risks of the challenges ahead and turning the opportunities history presents to us into a lasting power are clear:

A fair system that works equally for everyone

A democratic legal order based on human dignity

An original mental transformation based on freedom of thought

A strong sense of citizenship that brings differences together in a common belonging

A consistent understanding of social and political morality

An economy that produces and competes

A social justice system that spreads prosperity to society

State institutions operating on the basis of competence and merit

A political order that derives its legitimacy solely and directly from the national will

A strategic mind capable of correctly reading the great transformations in the world

In summary, the change Turkey needs is a comprehensive revolution of morality, mentality, institutions, and politics.

When we look at today's picture, we see that there has been a severe regression in many of these fundamental conditions.

Our thought and science institutions, especially our universities that build the country's future, are losing ground in international competition every day. Faced with the artificial intelligence revolution that is rapidly transforming humanity's knowledge accumulation and production processes, Turkey is in danger of becoming a country that follows technologies produced by others instead of being a pioneering and founding actor. While the number of university graduates is increasing, the quality of education, the capacity for free thought, and its compatibility with employment are not developing to the same extent.

Polarization spreading from politics to society is destroying our sense of common belonging. To the extent that we begin to see each other not as citizens, neighbors, and partners in destiny, but as rival camps that must be defeated, silenced, or liquidated, our quality of being a nation weakens.

Corruption, cronyism, and lack of accountability are eroding our moral values. The decline in the perception of corruption is now at a level that cannot be denied.

Human rights violations, the perception of political interference in the judiciary, and the inconsistent application of legal rules according to individuals shake trust in justice. This is a serious warning that the trust relationship between the state and the citizen is weakening.

While the structural problems of the production economy, especially in agriculture and industry, are deepening, wealth transfers based on rent and privilege are widening socio-economic gaps.

Deviating from the principles of competence and merit erodes the institutional capacity of the state. Decision-making processes based on personal will rather than institutional memory and common sense lead to unpredictability, inconsistency, and bureaucratic chaos.

The most serious problem rising above all of this is that the political institution and the identity of the politician are experiencing one of the deepest losses of reputation in our history.

The corruption allegations we face in central and local governments have revealed that rot has spread not to a single political identity, but to the entire political institution.

The normalization of member of parliament and mayor transfers and the practice of appointing trustees as daily political practices is a major blow to the morality of democracy and the concept of national will, rendering the will expressed by the people at the ballot box meaningless.

The transformation of politics from a field of broad-horizon ideals, social responsibility, and public service into a field of narrow interests, personal career calculations, and position bargaining leads to qualified and moral people staying away from politics or those who enter politics being excluded. Just as a rose tree cannot grow in a desert climate, qualified and moral politicians cannot grow in a political field that is rotting and turning into a desert.

This is exactly what we are experiencing today.

Politics is becoming polluted, the cost of moral people staying in politics is increasing every day, and our nation's pessimism about the future is deepening.

In this context, as we move towards the 2028 elections, we consider it a historical duty to warn about two dangerous scenarios for the future of our nation.

With the "Presidential Government System," the weakening of the principle of separation of powers, the complete disappearance of checks and balances, and the acceleration of the authoritarian trend strengthened as a result, the pluralistic democratic legal order, which already shows great weakness, may be replaced by a permanent authoritarian structure.

This danger is independent of the person of any president. The problem is a system problem beyond the individual. A system that prioritizes the majority, not pluralism, has no capacity or possibility to carry Turkey. In this context, the transition to the "Strengthened Parliamentary System," which was prepared and shared with the public by our party for the first time, is not a choice but a necessity for Turkey.

The concentration of power in one hand; the weakening of the Parliament's oversight authority, the questioning of judicial independence, and the shaping of the bureaucracy according to personal loyalty instead of institutional responsibility make the state order fragile.

The most dangerous aspect of this process is the legitimization of the permanence of the authoritarian order through national and spiritual values. National and spiritual values are not a tool to legitimize the unlimited power of any government. On the contrary, these values impose the responsibility of limiting power with morality and law.

Another is the danger that the wave of anger born from authoritarianism, corruption, income inequality, bans, and legal violations will turn into a revanchist counter-government.

In a society that is becoming impoverished, has lost its trust in justice, and especially whose young generations are deprived of hope for the future, the accumulated reaction can give birth to a reckoning as harsh as a democratic renewal. Such a change of government, instead of correcting the mistakes of the past, can produce new grievances; it can activate social fault lines and divide the country into camps trying to eliminate each other. In this context, we must learn the necessary lessons from the internal tensions experienced in many countries around us.

We do not see the replacement of one authoritarianism with another; one cronyism with another; one corruption with another as change.

Turkey's need is not revenge but justice, not liquidation but restoration, not polarization but social peace.

Since the day we were founded, we have waged our political struggle so that Turkey would not be condemned to either of these two dark scenarios.

The fundamental principle that makes politics meaningful for us is political morality. The compass of all our politics, including the period we served in the AK Party, has been morality, merit, and honesty.

When our efforts in our former party, of which we were members, did not yield results, we worked to create a democratic conservative alternative in order to prevent the conservative political accumulation, which rose on the sweat of at least three generations, from becoming associated with corruption, bans, and poverty.

We believed that a strong and moral conservative alternative would lead the government to act more carefully; contribute to the conservative community regaining the moral superiority it had begun to lose; prevent possible revanchist tendencies; and prevent religious and national values from losing reputation in the eyes of society due to political mistakes.

For this purpose, we expressed that we were ready to make every sacrifice and founded the Future Party on December 12, 2019. Our party, as the first party founded by leaving the government after a long time, paved the way for parties to be founded later like a breakwater.

The Future Party set out with a strong program and a broad staff that reflected Turkey's social and political diversity and embraced all segments equally, although its founding staff mainly came from the conservative base. Because of this strong start, it has struggled with political pressures, media embargoes, and manipulations aimed at directing public perception since the moment it was founded. The provincial buildings we rented were sealed, organization members and their relatives lost their jobs, the founding friends themselves and their homes were subjected to attacks, and attempts were made to break its influence with the attacks of organized trolls.

Despite all these obstacles, we have put forward a solid political vision, an unshakable political will, and a stance. We established our Shadow Cabinet, which constitutes a first and a unique example in Turkish political history. We prepared comprehensive action plans that remain valid today in all fundamental policy areas. We formed organizations consisting of clean, brave, and self-sacrificing people all over the country.

In 2021, taking into account the structure of the "Presidential Government System" that makes alliances mandatory, we made intense efforts for three conservative parties to form a joint alliance. When this attempt failed, we took part in an alliance structure that balanced the main opposition party with five nationalist-conservative parties in order to prevent the danger of revanchism that polarization could cause and to create a ground for social consensus.

After the 2023 elections, we made every sacrifice, including our party name, to ensure that alternative conservative politics was both represented as a group in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and created a strong alternative for the future, and we formed a Parliamentary Group first under the name of the Saadet Party and then the New Path Party. From the beginning, we made efforts for this new group to become a single party by merging if possible, first within itself and then covering other conservative parties, or to form an organic alliance if not possible. However, these efforts of ours also remained inconclusive.

On the other hand, the erosion of political morality that has become widespread regardless of party, and the transfers of members of parliament, made our efforts to create a strong alternative politics even more difficult and shook the power of our parties in the eyes of society.

In all of these processes, our Lord, our nation, and our fellow travelers with whom we walked together are witnesses to our sincerity.

We did not demand any position.

We did not enter into any personal bargaining.

We left behind the positions that everyone chases; but we did not leave behind any violation of rights or public rights.

As taught by the divine word, we prayed to "leave with honor from the places we entered with honor." We were subjected to all kinds of attacks, slander, and insults, but without fearing the reproach of any reproacher, we did not allow the spiritual and historical heritage we represent to suffer a loss of reputation.

We did not give up on appearing as we are, and being as we appear.

While using our powers in the positions we held, our hearts trembled with the fear of God's pleasure and the violation of human rights, but our voices and hands did not tremble while making decisions and giving instructions, even under the most difficult conditions required by the survival of our state and the rights of our nation.

Our staff, who continue to defend the principles of the Future Party with perseverance despite all kinds of pressure, threats, and offers of interest, are the pride of the increasingly polluted political climate.

Our organization members who pay the rent of the provincial and district buildings by cutting from their family's sustenance;

Our Future Volunteers who risk facing their jobs, their circles, and even their closest ones because they joined our party;

Our youth who sweat not only for their party but for their own future and the tomorrow of their country;

Our women who transform our party into a large family hearth with their love, courage, and sacrifices;

They are the real heroes of politics; whose names are unknown, who do not chase positions, but who shoulder all its burden.

Their sacrifice cannot be ignored by any poll manipulation. Because in a moral struggle, success is not just coming to power. Success is maintaining direction while everyone is drifting; telling the truth while everyone is silent; remaining faithful to the trust while everyone is chasing property and position.

After all these tough processes, today; again, in accordance with the divine word "Allah does not burden any soul beyond its capacity," we are in the position of praying to our Lord, "Be witness, O Lord! We did our best, what we were capable of, so that this rot and corruption would not happen."

At the point we have reached, we see that the political system in general, and party politics in particular, has entered a major impasse.

We are facing the monopolization of power on one side, and fragmentation that renders alternative political forces ineffective on the other. The corruption that started in the upper echelons of politics is spreading to political cadres regardless of party, then to non-governmental organizations, and finally to every layer of society.

The self-correcting capacity of existing political mechanisms has largely been exhausted. The three main currents that have been decisive in Turkey's political thought and democracy history are facing a serious existential test today.

We call on everyone who defends conservatism, nationalism, and the idea of modernization to move beyond the narrow molds of daily politics and carry out a radical mental revolution in the face of rapidly changing world conditions. Conservatives should aim to bring the moral essence, nationalists equal citizenship, and those who defend the idea of modernization to bring universal values together with national values.

The Turkey of Tomorrow cannot be built with:

Fights carried out over yesterday's interpretations of history;

Polarizations produced by today's power and interest struggles;

A political understanding that is dependent on individuals, far from institutionalization, and devoid of moral principles.

In light of these evaluations, as a result of the consultations we held with our party's authorized bodies and the fellow travelers who have brought the Future Party to this day, we have decided to withdraw from party politics and terminate the political activities of the Future Party in order not to be a part of the polluted political climate.

This is not a decision of surrender.

This is a decision to set a moral distance.

This is not a giving up on politics; it is a call to everyone to rethink politics.

This is not withdrawing from the struggle for Turkey; it is raising our responsibility towards Turkey above daily political calculations.

The Turkey of Tomorrow; must be the Turkey of freedom of thought, merit, law, production, social justice, equal citizenship, institutional effectiveness, social peace, original thought, and strategic mind.

Our struggle did not begin with any position, nor will it end with any party legal entity.

From now on, we will continue to work for our country in every field, especially thought, morality, education, science, culture, international diplomacy, economy, and social solidarity.

We will encourage the truth and continue our warning responsibility against the wrong.

And we will continue to think, speak, warn, and work for our nation until the Turkey of Tomorrow is built."
