Operation against cybercrimes continues: 54 suspects detained

In the "Siberağ-5" operations conducted in 22 provinces under the coordination of the Ministry of Interior, 54 suspects identified as being involved in crimes such as illegal betting, qualified fraud, unauthorized access to information systems, and online child obscenity were detained.

Operation against cybercrimes continues: 54 suspects detained

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that large-scale operations were carried out in 22 provinces under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command's Cybercrime Combat Department.

These operations, dubbed "Siberağ-5," were conducted in Aydın, Adana, Aksaray, Amasya, Ankara, Antalya, Balıkesir, Istanbul, Konya, Niğde, Sakarya, Yalova, Zonguldak, Çanakkale, Mersin, Kahramanmaraş, Tekirdağ, Izmir, Kocaeli, Ağrı, Düzce, Afyonkarahisar, and Şırnak.

Within the scope of the operations, 54 suspects identified as being involved in illegal betting, qualified fraud, unauthorized access to information systems, and online child obscenity were detained. While 20 of the detained suspects were arrested, judicial control measures and travel bans were imposed on 24 others. It was reported that proceedings for the remaining suspects are ongoing.

During the operations, gendarmerie teams seized numerous computers, portable memory devices, mobile phones, SIM cards, foreign currency, and Turkish Lira. It was stated that operations against cybercrimes will continue with determination.
