According to information obtained by 12punto, Italian Principal Giuseppe Finocchiaro at the Private Italian High School in Istanbul, which has remained on the agenda due to the purge operation launched against unionized teachers following a strike victory, has been declared "persona non grata" by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

While the dismissal of teachers following the 123-day strike at the Private Italian High School in Istanbul and allegations of irregularities regarding the school administration continue to remain on the agenda, the Ministry of National Education had previously terminated the administrative duties of school principal Giuseppe Finocchiaro and vice principal Nida İntiba.

DECLARED AN UNWELCOME PERSON

According to information obtained by 12punto from strong sources, school principal Giuseppe Finocchiaro has been declared an unwelcome person, or persona non grata, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye. 

WHAT IS PERSONA NON GRATA?

In international relations, it is used for a foreign person or persons whose entry into or stay in a country is prohibited by the central government of that country.

The Ministry is expected to confirm the information with an official statement.
