A private jet with the tail registration TC-AKF, reported to belong to Turkish businessman Hamdi Akın, veered off the runway while landing at the airport in the Libyan city of Misrata. A fire broke out on the aircraft following the accident.
It was reported that the Cessna Citation Latitude business jet, which had traveled from Turkey to Libya, lost control and caught fire while landing at Misrata Airport at 10:07 local time.
According to information provided by AirportHaber, the private jet had gone to Libya to pick up passengers, and the pilot and a cabin crew member were on board. It was noted that the crew was rescued from the accident without injury, and no other injuries were reported in the incident.
It was learned that the TC-AKF registered aircraft, which is claimed to belong to Hamdi Akın, is operated by Bikinijet. No new information has been shared regarding technical investigations or official statements concerning the accident.
