It has been reported that Ekrem İmamoğlu and other individuals detained in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) case are not allowed to drink tea in the holding area of the Silivri courtroom.
It has been stated that a new restriction has been added regarding Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been detained since March 2025 as part of the investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and other detainees in the IMM case.
Following the report by Cumhuriyet, it was reported that detainees are not allowed to drink tea in the holding section of the new courtroom in Silivri where hearings are held. While it was stated that the practice was implemented for "security" reasons, it was pointed out that hearings sometimes last up to 15 hours.
It was noted that families offered to cover the cost of the tea to be provided to their relatives, but the security units responsible for the prison did not accept this proposal.
