Revealed in Court of Accounts report: Irregularities in AKP and MHP-run municipalities!

The Court of Accounts' reports for 2022 have revealed irregularities in municipalities run by the AKP and MHP.

According to a report by Cumhuriyet; some of the irregularities identified in the report for the MHP-run Kastamonu Municipality include:

• The municipality made certain purchases of goods and services in violation of the Public Procurement Law by "splitting them into parts from the same supplier and using direct procurement,"
• It procured electrical energy by making a direct contract without resorting to the tender process,
• It allocated five properties to associations and foundations in violation of regulations,
• It failed to fulfill rental payment obligations regarding the contracts of 128 properties,
• It was determined that the mayor appointed a person who is not a member of the municipal council and is on the worker payroll as an acting deputy mayor.

'WORKER RIGHTS HAVE BEEN USURPED'

The Court of Accounts stated that Personel A.Ş, affiliated with the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, did not allow its employees to take their annual leave in 2022 and did not pay their SSI (Social Security Institution) premiums.

In the financial statement of the municipality-affiliated Personel AŞ, "social security deductions to be paid" were recorded as a debt of 199 million 364 thousand 79 TL. The balance sheet also included an item for "overdue, deferred, and installment-paid taxes" amounting to 853 thousand 549 TL.

On the other hand, the report stated, "Examinations showed that 108 workers had over 100 days of leave, and these individuals had a total of 12 thousand 849 days of accumulated leave." CHP Balıkesir Deputy Serkan Sarı reacted by saying, "Usurping the rights of workers and retirees is the AKP mentality."
