Seçil Erzan's lawyer tells 12punto about the Bahar Candan fight: 'We may apply for a cell change'

Former DenizBank branch manager Seçil Erzan, who is being tried on charges of defrauding famous football players by establishing a "Fatih Terim Fund," and social media influencer Bahar Candan, who was arrested on charges of fraud and money laundering, got into a fight in prison. The argument was ignited when Bahar Candan addressed Erzan as a "fraudster." When Erzan retorted, "You are here on fraud charges too," Candan raised her voice and began shouting "Fraudster, fraudster, fraudster" repeatedly, prompting prison guards to enter the cell.

The guards, who first calmed the pair down, then filed a report upon Erzan's complaint. It was learned that Bahar Candan, whose mental state had deteriorated following the release of her sister Nihal Candan—who was staying in the same cell—due to health reasons, had been receiving constant warnings from the prison administration for frequently arguing with Seçil Erzan.

Confirming the incident to 12punto, Seçil Erzan's lawyer, Nazlı Karaaslan, stated that Erzan was working on her case file while Bahar Candan was constantly watching television, adding, "We may apply for a cell change."

'BAHAR CANDAN IS CONSTANTLY WATCHING TELEVISION'

Nazlı Karaaslan continued her remarks as follows:

"The claim that Seçil Erzan and Bahar Candan fought is true. They generally do not get along. Seçil is constantly working on her file. Bahar Candan, on the other hand, watches television. Seçil stays with Bahar because she does not want to be alone. If she wanted to stay alone, the administration could change it. We have not made a request yet, but after today, we may perhaps apply for a cell change."
Ahmet Işık, one of Bahar Candan's lawyers whom we contacted as 12punto, said that another colleague of his had been handling the file recently and that he would pass our number on to them. There has been no response from the Candan side.

BAHAR CANDAN HAD SAID 'I DO NOT WANT TO STAY WITH HER'

During the period when she was released due to health reasons, Bahar Candan had stated that she did not want to spend time with Seçil Erzan in prison, saying, "She had entered that place 7 months before us. Frankly, I didn't really want to stay with her because having someone in front of us who was constantly in a state of panic, in war mode, and experiencing a fear of death was not good for my sister Nihal and me." Stating, "While we were watching a series for 5 minutes, we would forget where we were at that moment, but she was not like that," Candan had said, "It was as if she always had a file she needed to work on. Waking up to A4 papers for a while did not do me any good at all."
