Tip-off emerges years later in Kaşif Kozinoğlu case: 'Dark Angel' sent an email!

In the reopened investigation into the suspicious death of former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu at Silivri Prison, tip-off emails sent to his family's lawyer years ago have become a subject of re-examination.

According to a report in the Sabah newspaper, in 2012, a person using the alias “Dark Angel” sent an email to Tuğçe Duygu Köksal, the lawyer for the Kozinoğlu family at the time, claiming that Kozinoğlu did not die of a heart attack but was poisoned.

According to information added to the file, the first message was sent on April 27, 2012, under the name “Melek melek” and from the address [email protected]. The person, who introduced themselves as a prisoner recently released from Silivri Prison No. 1, argued that the truth could be uncovered if Kozinoğlu’s death were investigated.

WHAT IS IN THE TIP-OFF EMAILS?

It was stated that the informant's email contained the claim that “They poisoned Kaşif Bey with his food.” Upon Lawyer Köksal's request for the individual, who did not reveal their identity, to share concrete evidence, a new response was reportedly sent the same day.

In this response, the informant claimed that they did not stay in the same cell as Kozinoğlu but were in the “workers' cell” and were tasked with distributing food, bread, canteen items, and supplies to the prison cells. Stating that they were hesitant to reveal their identity, the informant claimed that Kozinoğlu’s death was “absolutely not a heart attack.”

It was noted that after the informant's request for a meeting outside the prison was not accepted, the Kozinoğlu family's lawyers, Taner Serim and Tuğçe Duygu Köksal, applied to the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on May 11, 2012, requesting an expansion of the investigation.

The report stated that the transcripts of phone calls included in the file also contained statements from Kozinoğlu’s cellmates. According to these, his cellmates said that Kozinoğlu did not want to eat the food provided in the prison and had started consuming canned goods due to fears of being poisoned.

It was reported that as part of the reopened file, the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating the identity of the person using the alias “Dark Angel” and the claims made in the emails.
