TOMA with brake failure causes accident

The accident occurred in the Altunizade section of the Üsküdar Şile Highway. According to allegations, the TOMA vehicle, realizing its brakes were not working while traveling in the direction of Üsküdar, proceeded while sounding its siren.

The TOMA vehicle, which was moving at a high speed, was only able to stop after crashing into the vehicles in front of it.

Drivers who noticed the rapidly approaching TOMA vehicle could not avoid the accident. Other cars coming from behind that failed to notice the accident crashed into the vehicles already involved.

A motorcycle rider was injured in the accident, which involved 11 cars, 1 TOMA, and 2 motorcycles.

"I TRIED TO ESCAPE, BUT I COULDN'T"

Upon notification, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. After receiving intervention from medical teams, the injured motorcyclist was transported to a hospital in the area.

Significant material damage occurred to many vehicles. Traffic was gridlocked in the Altunizade section of the Şile Highway due to the accident. Efforts to remove the vehicles are ongoing.

Cüneyt Ergüven, a driver involved in the accident, said, "It was coming from Ümraniye with its siren on; after passing the underpass, we realized it was coming at a high speed. I tried to escape, but I couldn't. It hit me from the left side."
