Tourist hotel engulfed in flames in the morning

Edremit’s holiday resort Akçay, in Sarıkkız Neighborhood, Leman Akpınar Street, saw a fire that started in the kitchen area of the Yavuz Boutique Hotel and the Kıyı Cafe located in front of it on the beachfront, according to initial findings, and spread in a short time.

Y.Y., M.Y., and B.T., who were responding to the fire, were affected by smoke, though their lives are not in danger. The 3 individuals were transported to the hospital by medical teams.

Teams from the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Edremit Fire Department Group Command intervened in the fire. Edremit District Police Department teams also took security measures in the surrounding area.

With the start of the fire, all rooms in the hotel, which was full due to the holiday, were evacuated quickly. Guests and employees were evacuated without being harmed by the fire.

The fire was brought under control and extinguished through the intensive efforts of the teams. Following the fire, an investigation into the cause of the blaze and damage assessment studies were initiated.

It was learned that there were approximately 100 people in the hotel during the fire.
