TÜİK announces: The 10 provinces with the lowest crime rates in Turkey have been identified
According to a report prepared by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the 10 cities with the lowest crime rates in Turkey have been identified. It is noteworthy that there is only one metropolitan city on the list.
The Turkish Statistical Institute has determined the cities with the lowest crime rates in light of data regarding convicts entering penal institutions based on their place of residence and the type of crime committed. Erzurum was the only metropolitan city to appear on the prepared list.
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) periodically shares data regarding convicts entering penal institutions based on their place of residence and the type of crime. In a new report covering the years between 2012 and 2020, TÜİK released data on "Convicts Entering Penal Institutions by Permanent Residence and Type of Crime."
WHICH TYPES OF CRIMES WERE TAKEN AS A BASIS?
The ranking was made according to the types of crimes committed. Here are those crime types: Homicide, assault, sexual offenses, deprivation of liberty, defamation, theft, robbery, fraud, narcotics, forgery, maltreatment, embezzlement, bribery, smuggling, traffic offenses, forestry offenses, crimes related to firearms and knives, opposition to the Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law, opposition to the Military Penal Code, threats, property damage, resisting to prevent the performance of duty, violation of measures for the protection of the family, other crimes, and unknown.
THE 10 PROVINCES WITH THE LOWEST CRIME RATES;
- Adıyaman crime rate: 156 per 100,000
- Şırnak crime rate: 159 per 100,000
- Bitlis crime rate: 175 per 100,000
- Siirt crime rate: 175 per 100,000
- Bayburt crime rate: 186 per 100,000
- Muş crime rate: 188 per 100,000
- Erzincan crime rate: 191 per 100,000
- Hakkari crime rate: 192 per 100,000
- Mardin crime rate: 194 per 100,000
- Erzurum crime rate: 196 per 100,000
