US and UK strikes on Yemen protested in Iran

A demonstration was held in Iran's capital, Tehran, to protest the airstrikes carried out by US and UK warplanes against Yemen.

Following Friday prayers at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosque in the capital, Iranians marched to express their support for Yemen.

Participants in the protest chanted slogans against the US, the UK, and Israel, condemning the aforementioned attacks.

US and British warplanes had conducted airstrikes on several locations in the Yemeni cities of Sanaa, Hodeidah, and Taiz during the night.

THE CRISIS IN THE RED SEA

Recently, following the actions of the Houthis in Yemen against commercial vessels in response to Israel's attacks on Gaza, numerous shipping companies had decided to suspend their voyages in the Red Sea.

The Pentagon announced on December 6, 2023, that it was in talks to establish an international "Maritime Task Force" against attacks by Houthi forces in Yemen on commercial ships in the Red Sea, and on December 18, it announced the creation of a multinational mission named "Operation Prosperity Guardian."

While the Houthi attacks endanger passage through the Suez Canal—which connects the Mediterranean to the Red Sea, offers the shortest route between Europe and Asia, and accounts for approximately 12 percent of global trade—the attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and the successive decisions made by companies have raised concerns about the start of a new "supply chain crisis" in the global economy.
