Hulusi Akar: It's no joke, Israel is a huge threat to Turkey

Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly National Defense Commission and AKP Kayseri Deputy Hulusi Akar said, "The occupation of Denmark in the Second World War took 6 hours. There is no joke about this. 'Sir, is Israel a threat to us or not?' It is a threat, a huge threat."

Akar met with Ankara representatives of media organizations at the "Anatolian Conversations" event of the Anatolian Broadcasters Federation and answered their questions.

Speaking there, Akar touched upon Israel's attacks on Gaza and stated, "Since October 7, 2023, 17 thousand 210 children have been massacred, martyred, and 11 thousand 742 women have lost their lives. A total of 43 thousand 985. In the last 24 hours, 13 people have lost their lives."

Emphasizing that one should not remain silent about the oppression Israel is committing in Palestine, Akar spoke as follows:

"In the West Bank, 784 people lost their lives even though nothing happened there. It is complete oppression, complete ethnic cleansing, complete genocide. 180 members of the press were killed. In Europe, in America, anywhere in the world, when something happens to one person, there is rightfully such an uproar. 180 people are being killed in plain sight, screaming. 496 health personnel, despite all these signs and symbols, the cross signs, the Red Crescent signs, the crescent signs, all of them, white, red, etc., 496 health personnel were killed in plain sight."

Reminding that 158 United Nations employees have lost their lives in Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023, Akar stated, "More than 11 thousand people are currently detained under very, very difficult conditions, the fate of whom is unknown, conditions that are painful even to pronounce. 104 thousand 92 people are also injured. Meanwhile, there are 7 thousand 700 missing."

Pointing out that the numbers that emerged after Israel's attacks on Palestine are "known" data, Akar said, "The figure could be much higher than this. According to some rumors, it has exceeded 100 thousand."

Stating that a total of 3 thousand 544 people, including 104 children, 194 women, and 214 health workers, lost their lives following the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, and that these are the identifiable data, Akar stated that "one should not get used to this."

Regarding questions about the war between Ukraine and Russia, Hulusi Akar said, "There is a hybrid war, there is no declaration of war, and a country is being attacked with everything. Ukraine is the most typical example of this. Aren't America and Russia, Europe and Russia at war right now? There is no declaration, but they are providing all kinds of aid."

RESOLUTION PROCESS AND OPERATIONS

Stating that the Republic of Turkey will continue to protect its rights and interests in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations, Akar said that cross-border operations are also carried out within this scope.

Referring to the resolution process period that began in 2013, Akar noted the following:

"There, the Republic of Turkey proposes a solution in a way that befits its history, its national and spiritual values, and its nobility. 'Come, surrender your weapons, surrender to justice.' This issue was misunderstood. It was seen as if there was helplessness or a weakness, and they became very spoiled, as you all know. They did things that shouldn't be done. So-called courts, so-called shrines, etc. After that, the massacres began. Suruç, Diyarbakır, Van... After that, we said 'enough is enough.' On July 24, 2015, the operations began. Air operations, etc. In the Iki Yaka Mountains, Yüksekova, Şemdinli, Dağlıca, places that were said to be 'inaccessible, impenetrable,' thank God, with the love and prayers of our noble nation and the heroism and sacrifice of the Mehmetçik (Turkish soldier), every place was entered, every place was exited. Here, the terrorists were razed to the ground. Seeing that they could not cope with the Mehmetçik in the mountains, the terrorists entered the provinces and districts and relied on pits by using our citizens as human shields. This, as you know, was carried out with great success and the terrorists, thank God, were buried in the pits they dug."

Making evaluations regarding the Euphrates Shield Operation carried out in the north of Syria, Akar explained that 4 thousand DAESH terrorists were neutralized in this operation, even though 50 percent of the generals left the army during the treacherous coup attempt of FETÖ.

"ISRAEL IS A HUGE THREAT"

Regarding questions about the Third World War and whether Israel poses a threat to Turkey, Akar said, "The occupation of Denmark in the Second World War took 6 hours. There is no joke about this. 'Sir, is Israel a threat to us or not?' It is a threat, a huge threat. Would you leave the lives of 85 million people of the great Republic of Turkey to chance? Does it have weapons? Yes. Does it have ammunition? Yes. Is there distance? Yes. Except for time, is the space suitable? Yes. It's just a matter of time, a matter of timing. Therefore, we must of course be ready."

THE OATH OF THE LIEUTENANTS

Emphasizing that the Turkish Armed Forces must perform its duty transparently within the framework of law and legislation, Akar said, "The minister, the rector, and the High Disciplinary Board are working within the hierarchy. Therefore, we must wait for them calmly. We must wait for their results."

Akar said that regarding the events that took place at the Military Academy Graduation and Flag Handover Ceremony, the issue should be looked at without making a judgment and the decision to be made by the High Disciplinary Board should be awaited.

BAHÇELİ'S 'RIGHT TO HOPE' MOVE

When asked about his views on MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's "right to hope" move, Akar noted the following:

"This is, of course, a legal matter. Everyone is working, talking, discussing. When we look at the beginning, Mr. Devlet Bahçeli is a leader who always leaves a mark on history and constantly sets the direction with his wise personality, experience, and views. He explained this once again, repeatedly, most recently. Without any contradiction with our President, in cooperation, efforts are being made for the growth of the People's Alliance and for providing all kinds of contributions to the future of our Turkey and our nation. This is a path, an expression. On the other hand, there is no change regarding the fight against terrorism, Kandil, and the terrorists in the field. The struggle there will continue until the end, uninterrupted, complete, and at full capacity. It will continue until the last terrorist is neutralized."

Stating that this situation can be evaluated as a "move" towards the issue of terrorism, which has become the country's chronic problem, Akar said, "Our only goal here, our unchanging goal, is the terrorists. Our problem is the terrorist. We will continue our fight against these terrorists."

Regarding questions about how US President-elect Donald Trump will act on the F-35 issue, Akar said, "We have the issue of purchasing F-16s, we have the issue of purchasing Eurofighters. Therefore, we are not in a desperate situation here. We are also conveying these demands of ours clearly and netly."
