Retired bank employee in Yozgat loses 130,000 liras to phone scammers
Hasan Özkan, who lives in Çekerek, stated that individuals who identified themselves as bank officials took out loans in his name and requested that his grievance be addressed.
In the Çekerek district of ÇYozgat,çretired bank employee Hasan ÖÖzkan stated that he was defrauded of 130,000 liras by phone scammers.öAccording to ÖÖzkan's claims,öindividuals who called him claiming to be from a public bank's loan department requested his IBAN, stating that there were accumulated receivables in his and his wife's names.
Explaining that he retired öfrom a public bank 27 years ago, ÖÖzkan stated that the callers Çgained his trust by mentioning the name of a bank employee in Çekerek.üStating that the scammers told him there was a total of 120,000 liras in receivables, 65,000 liras for him and 55,000 liras for his wife, üÖzkanöshared his son's IBAN information Öunder the pretextçthat the money would be deposited.
When the money did notçarrive in the account,üÖzkan became suspicious Öand went to the bank with his son, where he learned during a check that a loan had been taken out in his name. çHe said, ö“They told me I wasödefrauded via digital banking.” ÖÖzkan explained that after the fraud,öhe went to the police to give a statement, applied to CİMER and the bank's general directorate, and that a legal process had begun.
ÖAccording to his statement,üsomeüsuspectsüwere caught,üand the hearing regarding the case is scheduled for June 17, 2025.üHe noted that the processöhe has beenç experiencingühas been ongoing for about a year and a half.öHeüaddedüthat
he is waiting for justice to be served.üThe investigationçcontinues.östating ÖÖzkan expressed that he is experiencing financialçhardship çdue to deductions from his pension. Noting that his pension is 28,000 liras, ÖÖzkan stated that his entire pension is being deducted for loan installments and that he has also beençindebted.
ÖÖzkan described his situation by saying, "When we received the pension, we saw that noç money reached our hands. They took out 55,000 liras and 65,000 liras. çThey divided these into 24-month installments.öWeühave no money left for bread; sometimes neighbors help us," he said,ödescribing his plight.
Stating that the fraudçtook placeçwithin 10-15 minutes,öÖzkan Öurged citizens to be cautious against similar calls. çHe ÖÖzkan stated that he wants his money returned if the perpetrators are caught and for his grievance to be resolved.
