Vinyl poster crisis at CHP İstanbul Provincial Headquarters: Attempt made to hang Kılıçdaroğlu's poster

On May 21, 2026, the Ankara Regional Court of Justice 36th Civil Chamber issued an "absolute nullity" ruling regarding the 38th Ordinary Congress of the Republican People's Party (CHP). 

During an operation carried out at the CHP İstanbul Provincial Headquarters building this evening, the vinyl poster of the party's Presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu was removed, and an attempt was made to hang a poster of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in its place.

According to information obtained by 12punto, the police and the team that arrived with a crane stated that they would remove Ekrem İmamoğlu's poster and hang Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's poster in its place. Those present at the Provincial Headquarters building did not permit this and re-hung the İmamoğlu banner.

YOUTH SURROUNDED

Young people supporting the party's elected Presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu were surrounded.

The İmamoğlu poster, which had been removed from the building, was re-hung after a short while. The reaction of the Kılıçdaroğlu administration, which returned to the head of the CHP with the absolute nullity ruling, toward İmamoğlu continues to manifest itself frequently.

The young people at the CHP Provincial Headquarters building re-hung the İmamoğlu poster. They also protested against the members of the Kılıçdaroğlu administration who came to the building with slogans.
