Osman Sınav, a director and producer who was a doyen of the Turkish cinema and television world, has passed away at the age of 69. Sınav, who was behind legendary productions such as "Kurtlar Vadisi" (Valley of the Wolves), "Ekmek Teknesi" (Bread Boat), and "Deli Yürek" (Crazy Heart), had been receiving treatment for cancer for some time.

WHO IS OSMAN SINAV?

Osman Sınav was born in Burdur in 1956. In 1975, he graduated from the Painting Department of the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts. Because he was also interested in textile design, he enrolled in the Textile Design department of the same school's School of Applied Arts in 1977. Sınav, who also studied at the Cinema and Television Institute of the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts, graduated in 1979.

Starting his professional career as a copywriter at Man Ajans, Sınav later continued his advertising career at an agency called Grafika Lintas between 1980 and 1984. In addition to copywriting, he also served as a creative group head and founded Sinegraf Film Yapım/Yönetim Ltd. Şti. in 1984.

The director, who launched TV series and feature films, was behind the camera that same year for the TV film titled Bir Muharririn Ölümü (Death of a Writer), which starred Haluk Kurtoğlu and Alev Sezer. This was followed in 1989 by Hünkarın Bir Günü (A Day of the Sultan), for which he wrote the screenplay together with İlhami Algör. Sınav, who directed the films Yalancı Şafak (Lying Dawn), Küçük Dünya (Small World), and Aşka Kimse Yok (No One for Love) in 1990, directed the TV series Süper Baba (Super Dad) in 1993.
