Words of arrested Sinem Dedetaş hung on Üsküdar Municipality building

A quote from a previous speech by Üsküdar Mayor Sinem Dedetaş, who was arrested as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has been hung on the facade of the municipal building.

In addition to a banner featuring Dedetaş's words, "Even if you put us all inside, this nation's face will not smile," a banner with Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's quote, "Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation," was also placed on the municipal building.

Dedetaş was arrested by a criminal judgeship of peace on Friday evening on several charges, including "leading a criminal organization." Following the arrest decision, it was reported that Dedetaş was taken to the Karatepe Prison in Çorlu, Tekirdağ.

DEDETAŞ'S WORDS FROM APRIL

Following the first wave of operations targeting the Üsküdar Municipality, Dedetaş had criticized the process in a speech she gave during the April session of the municipal council. In her speech, she stated that images of money, which were claimed not to belong to the municipality, were associated with the municipality, and that this was refuted shortly after when the receipts emerged.

In the same speech, Dedetaş had used the expressions, "This process will not go anywhere this way. Even if you put us all inside, this nation's face will not smile. These do not make the nation's face smile. This economy is not improving this way."
