76,780 people applied to mediation for rental disputes
In a statement regarding the mediation system for rental disputes, Minister of Justice Tunç said, "There have been 76,780 applications to the mediation system for rental disputes, which we launched on September 1, and 32,098 of these applications have resulted in an agreement."
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that there have been 76,780 applications to the mediation system for rental disputes, which was implemented on September 1, and that 32,098 of these have resulted in an agreement.
In a post on his social media account, Minister Tunç stated that through the mediation system for rental disputes, citizens are resolving their disagreements in a friendly manner without resorting to litigation.
Stating that the agreement of the parties through the mediation system also contributes to the decrease in rental prices by reducing evictions and the need for new rentals, Tunç continued as follows:
"There have been 76,780 applications to the mediation system for rental disputes, which we launched on September 1, and 32,098 of these applications resulted in an agreement; thus, 64,000 of our citizens, consisting of tenants and landlords, resolved their disputes in a friendly manner without going to court.
When we consider that 20,000 rental lawsuits were filed in August, while it was likely that approximately 70,000 lawsuits would be filed in 3.5 months, the fact that the number of lawsuits remained at 13,923 also ensured a reduction in the judiciary's workload. Most importantly, it served social peace by minimizing tenant-landlord disputes."
