Credit card users take note: Only 7 days left

The final days of the year have become a critical turning point for credit card holders. It has been announced that reward and campaign points loaded onto cards by banks will lose their validity at the end of the year. This situation could lead to financial losses for cardholders who do not use their points.

Experts state that most points earned from expenditures such as shopping, fuel, and travel are limited to a certain period. It is emphasized that in some campaigns, points are valid for only one year. Therefore, it is stated that point balances should be checked regularly.

Consumer Confederation (TÜKONFED) Deputy Chairman İbrahim Güllü stated that banks do not provide sufficient information before deleting points. Arguing that, according to the Code of Obligations, claims should be valid for 10 years, Güllü expressed that these practices are controversial.

Users can easily check their point balances through mobile banking applications or customer service. It is important to obtain detailed information about point validity periods, which vary from bank to bank. Points that are about to expire can be spent before the year ends to prevent losses.

Experts state that credit card holders should carefully evaluate the coming days to avoid grievances. Since there is no possibility of recovery for unused points, it is recommended that checking and spending transactions should not be delayed.
