Civil servant and retiree unions emphasize that salary increases should not be limited to inflation adjustments alone.

Memur-Sen Chairman Ali Yalçın has demanded a 15% raise for salaries plus a 10% welfare share, while Türkiye Kamu-Sen Chairman Önder Kahveci has proposed that the welfare share be made a permanent practice.

The welfare share practice could have a significant impact on salaries with decisions to be finalized in July.

If a 10% increase occurs, this could positively affect civil servant, retiree, and worker salaries. However, it remains unclear who this increase will cover and how effective it will be.

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz announced that the government is working on regulations regarding the lowest pension. However, no concrete steps have been taken yet regarding the welfare share.

While the government is carefully evaluating the regulations to be made for pensions, the 11.54% raise provided to civil servants and civil servant retirees in January 2025 was the first step in salary increases.
