The retiree's ordeal never ends... Now, a surprise regarding the raise difference!
The 15.75 percent raise rate for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees has been finalized. However, those receiving the lowest pension will receive their raise differences late. Here are the details...
Following the announcement of inflation data, the raise rate for millions of SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees was set at 15.75 percent.
With this increase, the lowest pension rose from 12,500 TL to 14,469 TL, while the government announced that no welfare share payment would be made this year.
For retirees receiving the lowest pension, only a 1,969 TL raise was deemed sufficient.
JANUARY DIFFERENCES PUSHED TO FEBRUARY
While there was debate over whether the retirees' increased pensions would be ready for the payments scheduled between January 17-26, the Turkish Grand National Assembly's (TBMM) work schedule caused the pension differences to spill over into February.
In January, retirees receiving the lowest pension will be paid the old amount of 12,500 TL. The raise differences determined by the new regulation will be paid in February.
LEGISLATIVE PROPOSAL DELAYED IN PARLIAMENT
The regulation for the lowest pension, which was submitted to the Speaker of the Parliament last week, was not included in this week's parliamentary agenda.
The fact that the TBMM will take a one-week break from its work indicates that the legislative proposal can be submitted to the General Assembly at the earliest on January 20.
After the regulation is accepted and published in the Official Gazette, the Social Security Institution (SGK) will determine a payment schedule for retirees receiving the lowest pension.
While other retirees can receive their increased pensions as of January, retirees receiving the lowest pension will receive their differences on a date to be announced in February.
Experts stated that the delay in pension differences would have a temporary effect, but this difference would be covered by a lump-sum payment to be made in February. Officials, meanwhile, state that efforts are ongoing to ensure that the pension increases are reflected in retirees' accounts as soon as possible.
