İnan Mutlu shares striking table: University tuition fees in Turkey have surpassed Europe

While there was an average annual increase of 5.2 percent in university education prices in European countries, Turkey has emerged as the clear leader in this area. According to the graph shared by economist İnan Mutlu, which utilizes TURKSTAT and Eurostat data, university tuition fees in Turkey have increased by 108 percent in just the last year.

Turkey is followed on the list by the Netherlands with a 19.4 percent increase, Estonia with a 10.9 percent increase, and Slovakia with a 10 percent increase. While this rate remained at 3.1 percent in Germany, France stands out with a 1.5 percent increase. Iceland was the only country to see a decline, with university tuition fees falling by 21.1 percent.

EXORBITANT FEES AT PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES

Annual tuition fees at private universities in Turkey are practically burning pockets. The astronomical registration fees and annual tuition costs demanded from students are turning the right to education into a luxury for many. For this reason, many students are forced to drop out of their education or turn to opportunities abroad.

Economist İnan Mutlu, who shared the data, noted the following in a post on his social media account:
