Istanbul's 3-month tourist numbers revealed
Istanbul hosted 3 million 766 thousand 718 foreign visitors in the first 3 months of the year.
According to data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Istanbul, which hosted 1 million 309 thousand 200 foreign visitors in March—an increase of 8.49 percent compared to the same month last year—has become the locomotive of Turkish tourism.
The largest number of visitors entering Istanbul in March came from the Russian Federation with 163 thousand 548 people, followed by Iran in second place with 121 thousand 194 people, Germany in third with 115 thousand 563 people, and the United Kingdom in fourth with 57 thousand 97 people. The United Kingdom was followed by the United States with 55 thousand 940 people, France with 40 thousand 828 people, and Italy with 35 thousand 446 people, respectively.
In the ranking of visitors arriving in Istanbul from Arab countries in March, Algeria ranked first, Iraq second, Morocco third, and Saudi Arabia fourth. Saudi Arabia was followed by Lebanon, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, and Tunisia. Furthermore, in the first 3 months of 2024, Istanbul hosted 3 million 766 thousand 718 foreign visitors.
