Major overhaul in vehicle inspection: Credit card fees to be abolished, artificial intelligence to be introduced

Changes are being made to the vehicle inspection system, which concerns more than 34 million vehicle owners in Turkey. Under the new concession agreement covering the 2027-2047 period, TURKA will provide services, replacing TÜVTÜRK, which has been operating vehicle inspection services for approximately 20 years.

2.2 BILLION DOLLAR INVESTMENT PLAN

It has been stated that the financing for the 1.72 billion dollar operating rights fee for the new system has been completed, and it was announced that 500 million dollars in resources have been allocated for technology and station investments. Thus, a total investment of 2.2 billion dollars is planned for the vehicle inspection infrastructure.

NO ADDITIONAL FEES FOR CARD PAYMENTS

The credit card commission practice, which vehicle owners have long reacted to, will also come to an end. In the new period, no commission or additional service fees will be applied to vehicle inspection payments made with credit or debit cards.

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY TO BE USED IN INSPECTIONS

With TURKA, digital technologies will be introduced into vehicle inspection processes. The system will utilize AI-supported image processing, automatic control with laser scanners, and automatic defect detection technologies. These applications aim to identify deficiencies in vehicles more precisely and complete inspection procedures in a shorter time.

NUMBER OF STATIONS AND INSPECTION LINES TO BE INCREASED

In the new period, station capacity will be expanded to reduce appointment and queue density. In this context, 249 independent fixed stations, 100 mobile inspection stations, and 900 new inspection lines will be put into service.

SEPARATE STATIONS FOR MOTORCYCLES

With the new application, independent inspection stations that will serve only two-wheeled vehicles will be established for motorcycle users. This aims to prevent motorcycle riders from waiting in the same lines as automobiles.

APPLICATION TO BEGIN ON AUGUST 15, 2027

TURKA vehicle inspection stations, which will be equipped with green and new-generation technologies, will begin service on August 15, 2027. From this date forward, vehicle inspection procedures will be carried out through the new system.
