Mehmet Şimşek to meet with Asian investors in Singapore

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek will meet with investors and hold official talks in Singapore over the next two days.

According to information obtained from the ministry, Minister Şimşek began his visit to Singapore today and will conclude it tomorrow evening.

During his two-day stay in Singapore, Şimşek will meet with numerous investors and conduct bilateral official talks.

Şimşek will meet with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who also serves as the Minister of Finance, and will also be received by Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam as part of his visit.

These meetings will address commercial and economic relations between the two countries.

WILL INVITE COMPANIES TO INVEST

As part of his contacts, Şimşek will meet with representatives of the real sector in Asia and will also hold discussions with managers of global investment funds as part of a "road show" he is conducting in Asia for the first time.

In these meetings, Şimşek will explain Turkey's economic program and invite companies and funds to invest in the country. The companies Şimşek will meet with are also significant in terms of their potential for direct investment.

There is a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement between Turkey and Singapore, one of Southeast Asia's key trade and financial hubs.

The locations of both countries are of strategic importance to one another. While Turkish companies view Singapore as a base for the Asian market, Turkey is seen as an important hub for Singapore-based companies to access the European Union market.

WILL ALSO ATTEND FATF GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Minister Şimşek is also expected to attend the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) General Assembly meeting to be held in Singapore.

Şimşek is scheduled to deliver a speech at the meeting, where Turkey's status on the FATF grey list will also be discussed.
