Minimum wage cost to the employer and support amount have been determined
The net-gross distribution and total cost to the employer of the minimum wage that will be valid in 2026 have been clarified; while the minimum wage support provided by the state has been increased, new amounts will also come into effect for many social payment items.
Details regarding the 2026 minimum wage, announced by Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, have been determined. Accordingly, while the gross minimum wage was set at 33 thousand 30 lira, the net amount received by the employee became 28 thousand 75 lira and 50 kuruş. This figure includes 4 thousand 624 lira and 20 kuruş for SGK premiums and 330 lira and 30 kuruş for unemployment insurance premiums.
On the employer side, the cost increased with the items added to the gross wage. With the addition of 7 thousand 184 lira and 3 kuruş as the employer's share of SGK and 660 lira and 60 kuruş as the employer's unemployment insurance premium, the total monthly cost of one worker rose to 40 thousand 874 lira and 63 kuruş.
With the new wage regulation, the minimum wage support provided by the state to employers has also been increased. The support amount, which was previously 1000 lira, has been raised to 1270 lira.
On the other hand, this update in the minimum wage will affect not only salaries but also many social and economic headings. New amounts for many items, primarily unemployment benefits, General Health Insurance (GSS) premiums, severance pay calculations, and internship wages, will begin to be applied as of January 1, 2026.
