New e-Government step from the CBRT affecting millions

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) has announced that a new service allowing for the querying of account ownership at payment and electronic money institutions via e-Government has been launched.

With the “Payment and Electronic Money Institution Account Ownership Inquiry” service developed by the CBRT, individuals will be able to access information regarding which payment and electronic money institutions they hold accounts with.

According to the statement, the service will be provided through the e-Government Gateway platform. Users will also be able to perform the aforementioned inquiry on behalf of individuals for whom they are heirs.

The CBRT stated that the work was prepared in line with its duties to regulate and supervise the payment sector under Law No. 6493. The Bank noted that it acted in coordination with relevant stakeholders as part of its efforts to ensure the secure, uninterrupted, effective, and efficient operation of payment systems.

The statement made by the CBRT is as follows:

"As a result of the work carried out by the CBRT with relevant stakeholders, the “Payment and Electronic Money Institution Account Ownership Inquiry” service has been developed.

Thanks to this service, which can be accessed via the e-Government Gateway platform, individuals will be able to access information regarding which payment and electronic money institutions they hold accounts with and will also be able to use the service on behalf of individuals for whom they are heirs.

Information regarding authorized payment and electronic money institutions is published in an up-to-date manner in the “Payment Services” section of the CBRT website.”
