YENİ Party Zonguldak MP Deniz Yavuzyılmaz criticized the reduction of the annual electricity consumption limit to 3,000 kilowatt-hours. In a statement on his social media account, Yavuzyılmaz argued that the regulation will bring more residential subscribers under the scope of the Last Resort Supply Tariff starting January 1, 2027.

Yavuzyılmaz claimed that with the decision taken by the EMRA (EPDK), residential subscribers whose total electricity consumption in 2026 exceeds 3,000 kilowatt-hours will be removed from the fixed-price tariff and directed to a variable-price tariff where the market clearing price applies.
Criticizing the regulation as a “2027 model new trap,” Yavuzyılmaz stated that the 3,000 kilowatt-hour annual limit corresponds to a total bill of 9,864 TL under current calculations. Yavuzyılmaz called on subscribers to reduce their consumption in November and December of 2026.
According to the calculation shared by Yavuzyılmaz, a residential subscriber with a monthly electricity consumption of 250 kilowatt-hours could see their bill rise from 822 TL to 1,676 TL in 2027. In this table, the increase rate was shown as 104 percent.

Yavuzyılmaz stated that in another example where the monthly bill is 1,226 TL, the amount would rise to 2,233 TL, with the increase rate in this calculation reaching 82 percent. Accordingly, it was suggested that subscribers who consume between 3,000 and 4,000 kilowatt-hours annually in 2026 could experience significant increases in their 2027 bills.

In his statement, Yavuzyılmaz said, “The way to escape this trap set by the AKP for 2027 is to keep your total 2026 electricity bill below 9,864 TL, meaning you must reduce your consumption in November and December to keep your electricity consumption below 3,000 kilowatt-hours.”
