Taxi fare hike on the horizon in Istanbul! Here is the figure on the table

Following the price hike at the beginning of the year, taxi drivers in Istanbul are requesting another increase due to rising costs. With the regulation implemented in January, the taxi opening fee was set at 42 TL, the per-kilometer rate at 28 TL, and the minimum fare at 135 TL.

The Istanbul Chamber of Taxi Drivers has requested a 35 percent increase in tariffs, citing rising costs in fuel, vehicle maintenance, spare parts, insurance, and labor.

NEW TARIFF PROPOSAL

In Istanbul, where approximately 20 thousand taxis operate, this demand for a hike will be addressed at the next UKOME meeting. Officials from the tradesmen's chamber stated that current tariffs have become insufficient due to economic fluctuations. If the 35 percent hike is approved, the new tariffs will be as follows:

  • Opening fee: 56.7 TL
  • Per-kilometer rate: 37.8 TL
  • Minimum fare: 182.25 TL
