Former Prime Minister Tansu Çiller, who announced her support for the People's Alliance AKP candidate Murat Kurum, has cast her vote.
Former Prime Minister Tansu Çiller cast her vote in Sarıyer for the March 31 Local Administration General Elections.
Arriving alone at the Yeniköy Primary School in the Yeniköy neighborhood, Çiller went to the classroom where ballot box number "2364" was located. After greeting the poll workers and waiting for a short while, she cast her vote.
Speaking to members of the press after voting, Çiller noted that democracy is always crowned with a celebration and elections for them, and that they are experiencing this situation again today, making it a happy day in that regard. Çiller said, "I hope this will be the beginning of a new era."
Pointing out that the political differences of opinion that always exist in the country are a richness of democracy, Çiller added, "But let us not forget that we are strong when we are together and brotherly. We must not lose this strength. I wish for it to be auspicious for our country once again."
SHE HAD ANNOUNCED HER OPEN SUPPORT FOR KURUM
Having recently announced her support for the People's Alliance AKP Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality candidate Murat Kurum, Çiller had said, “He is coming with the excitement that Istanbul is looking for. The most important issue he touched upon was the earthquake.”
