AKOM issues warning for Istanbul with specific dates! Heat and humidity will make for sleepless nights
Temperatures are expected to rise in Istanbul in the coming days. AKOM has warned citizens against a heatwave that will be effective between July 5 and 9.
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has announced that temperatures in Istanbul will increase significantly in the coming days. It was stated that citizens should be cautious due to a heatwave that will be effective between July 5 and 9.
While temperatures remained within seasonal norms last week due to the effect of northeasterly winds in Istanbul, it was stated that temperatures will rise starting from July 5. AKOM pointed out that the humidity levels, which will increase especially during nighttime hours, could negatively affect sleep comfort.
Furthermore, it was emphasized that the elderly, children, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic illnesses should avoid staying directly under the sun between 11:00 and 16:00, when the sun's rays are at their strongest. AKOM advised these groups to take the necessary precautions to protect their health.
