With a decision published in the Official Gazette under the signature of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, certain areas across 27 provinces in Turkey have been removed from forest boundaries.

The provinces covered by the decision are listed as Afyonkarahisar, Ankara, Balıkesir, Bingöl, Bolu, Bursa, Çorum, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Eskişehir, Gümüşhane, Isparta, İstanbul, Karaman, Kayseri, Konya, Kütahya, Malatya, Manisa, Mersin, Muğla, Sinop, Sivas, Tokat, Trabzon, and Uşak.

The regulation also includes a provision regarding the creation of new forest areas in exchange for the areas removed from forest boundaries.

Accordingly, an area no less than twice the size of the areas removed from the boundaries will be allocated from immovable properties under the jurisdiction and disposal of the state or in the private ownership of the Treasury.

It is stipulated that the aforementioned immovable properties shall be allocated by the General Directorate of National Property of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change to the General Directorate of Forestry for the purpose of establishing forests.
