Snow alert for Istanbul from AKOM
According to the weekly weather forecast report published by AKOM, temperatures in Istanbul will drop rapidly, and snowfall will be effective, especially in higher areas, starting from the weekend.
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has shared its weekly weather report for the city with the public. The assessment indicates that strong northerly winds will be effective throughout the week, with intermittent showers expected alongside these winds.
In its statement, AKOM noted that air temperatures, which are currently hovering in the 11-13 degree range and are close to seasonal norms, will begin to drop after Friday. According to the forecasts, temperatures will fall below 10 degrees as of the weekend, and will drop below 5 degrees after Sunday evening, reaching levels conducive to snowfall.
Authorities issued a snowfall warning for Sunday, December 28, and Monday, December 29. It was reported that snowfall is expected to be particularly effective in high-altitude regions.

Friday, December 26: Partly to very cloudy
Saturday, December 27: Very cloudy, intermittent rain
Sunday, December 28: Sleet, snowy in higher areas
Monday, December 29: Sleet, snowy in higher areas
Tuesday, December 30: Partly cloudy
Wednesday, December 31: Very cloudy, intermittent rain
