Will a hotel be built on the forest fire base?

The Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM), affiliated with the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, has denied recent reports in the press claiming that the "Buca Forest Fire Training Center is being closed" and that the "Antalya Belek Forest Fire Base is being opened for hotel construction."

In a written statement, the DMM emphasized that these allegations are completely baseless and declared that the news in question is part of a disinformation campaign.

NO HOTEL WILL BE BUILT ON THE BELEK FOREST FIRE BASE

The statement also addressed the allegations regarding the Forest Fire Base in Antalya Belek. The DMM stated that the area known as the Belek Forest Fire Base is protected under the zoning plans of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The statement, which noted that "the Belek Forest Fire Base area has not been opened to construction or hotel development in any way," affirmed that the area is designated as a "fire base" in the plans and its function is being preserved.

The DMM also recalled that the area, which was allocated to the Serik Municipality in 1990 for the construction of a camping facility, had its allocation canceled in 2013 due to unauthorized construction and leasing to third parties by the municipality.

THE TRAINING CENTER IN BUCA HAS NOT BEEN CLOSED

It was also noted that the reports regarding the Buca Forest Fire Training Center are baseless. The DMM rejected the claims that the "Buca Forest Fire Training Center is being closed." The statement indicated that the activities at the fire training center in Buca are continuing and that it remains an important training and exercise area in the fight against forest fires.
