Yellow-coded warning from Meteorology for 20 cities: Heavy downpours and storms are coming

The General Directorate of Meteorology has announced that downpours and thunderstorms are expected across the country. While heavy rainfall is expected in parts of the Marmara, Black Sea, and Eastern Mediterranean regions, a yellow-coded warning has been issued for 20 cities. Winds are expected to reach speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour in the Marmara, Aegean coast, and Eastern Black Sea regions.

Yellow-coded warning from Meteorology for 20 cities: Heavy downpours and storms are coming

According to the latest assessments made by the General Directorate of Meteorology: The country is expected to be partly to very cloudy, with local downpours and occasional thunderstorms expected across the Marmara (south and east), Aegean, Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, Black Sea, western Eastern Anatolia, Southeastern Anatolia (excluding Siirt), as well as the surroundings of Istanbul, Kırklareli, Erzurum, Kars, Ardahan, Iğdır, and Muş. Rainfall is expected to be heavy in the northeast of Marmara, the Eastern Mediterranean coast, the Central and Eastern Black Sea coasts, the surroundings of Sinop and Ardahan, as well as the coastal parts of Kastamonu, the eastern parts of Çanakkale, and the northern parts of Balıkesir and Bursa.

No significant change in air temperature is expected, and it is forecast to remain below seasonal norms across the country.

Winds are expected to blow from the north, and from the south in the southern regions, generally light to occasionally moderate, and are expected to be strong with short-term storms (40-70 km/h) from the north in the Marmara, Aegean coast, and Eastern Black Sea regions.

YELLOW-CODED WARNING FOR 20 CITIES

In the Meteorology report, a yellow-coded warning was issued for 20 cities, including Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, and İzmir.

MARMARA

It is expected to be partly to very cloudy, with local downpours and thunderstorms across the region. Rainfall is expected to be locally heavy in the northeast of the region, as well as the eastern parts of Çanakkale and the northern parts of Balıkesir and Bursa. Winds are expected to blow from the north and northeast, strong and occasionally reaching short-term storm levels (40-70 km/h).
