Fatih Portakal's 'Köfteci Yusuf' commentary: 'Don't go, my friend'
Yusuf Akkaş, the owner of the Köfteci Yusuf restaurant chain, which has recently been in the spotlight due to a pork scandal, cannot be reached. News anchor Fatih Portakal has warned citizens not to visit these establishments.
Following the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's publication on October 2 of a list of foods that are adulterated or pose a health risk, and the public disclosure of the names of businesses where pork was detected in their products, allegations that pork had been found in a famous meatball restaurant chain stirred up controversy at the beginning of the week.
Yesterday, it was revealed that this restaurant chain is Köfteci Yusuf, which has branches in many provinces.
Fatih Portakal has also weighed in on the pork scandal. Fatih Portakal, who anchors the Sözcü TV Main News Bulletin, stated that the company's owner, Yusuf Akkaş, could not be reached and issued a warning to citizens, saying, "Do not go to Köfteci Yusuf, my friends."
Yusuf Akkaş, the owner of Köfteci Yusuf, began selling meatballs in a small shop in the İznik district of Bursa in 1996.
This shop, which has become a stopover especially for travelers, reached a large customer base in a short time.
Akkaş later opened many branches across Turkey
