Minister Tekin announces: KPSS requirement for teaching removed, transitioning to AGS system!

The promise made by the government before the elections to 'abolish interviews' has been replaced by a transition to a new system.

Preparations are underway to transition to a new system where the KPSS requirement for teacher candidates will be removed.

KPSS REQUIREMENT FOR TEACHING IS BEING REMOVED

In his statements to Türkiye Gazetesi, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin stated that as of 2025, teachers will no longer take the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS), and he shared details about the new system to be applied in appointments.

APPOINTMENTS IN THE NEW SYSTEM WILL BE MADE THIS WAY

The signal for the transition to the new system in teaching was given with the teacher academies that will be opened. In the new order to be established, it was decided that candidates who want to become teachers will receive training for 2 years in the teacher academies to be opened before their appointment.

Instead of the KPSS, in which millions of candidates participate, an 'Academy Entrance Exam' (AGS) will be implemented to measure the professional knowledge of teachers.

FIRST EXAM WILL BE HELD IN JULY!

The exam in question will be held for the first time on July 13, 2025, and successful candidates will begin taking classes at the National Education Academy.

The appointment process will begin for teachers who successfully complete the training process there as well.

Tekin used the following expressions regarding the changes in question: "There will be no KPSS for our teacher candidate friends in 2025. We will conduct an exam called the 'Academy Entrance Exam (AGS)'. ÖSYM will conduct the exam on July 13.

The process of entering the National Education Academy will begin according to the AGS results. We will employ our teacher friends after the training at the academy."

INTERVIEWS REMAIN UNCERTAIN!

No official statement has been made regarding whether the interview system, which is said to cause injustice in teacher appointments in the new period, will continue.
