New era for lost license plates
Renewing lost vehicle license plates is now easier. With the new regulation, license plate renewal can be done quickly and practically via e-Devlet instead of through notary procedures.
With a new regulation published in the Official Gazette, a fundamental change has been made to the renewal process for lost vehicle license plates.
According to the regulation titled "Regulation on Amending the Regulation on the Execution of Vehicle Sales, Transfer, and Registration Services," renewal procedures previously carried out through notaries can now be performed via the e-Devlet platform.
In the current system, owners of lost license plates were required to first go to a notary to file a loss report, then complete procedures at the Traffic Branch Directorate to obtain a license plate printing document. Afterward, they had to apply to the Chamber of Drivers with the notary-approved document.
With the newly published regulation, these processes will be digitized and can be easily carried out via e-Devlet. The amendment included the following statements:
"The creation of a license plate printing request document for the reprinting of a lost registration plate, the updating of contact information, and the generation of a summary registration information report for the vehicle can be performed via e-Devlet."
This innovation aims to speed up processes and eliminate the necessity for citizens to visit notaries and branch directorates.
