Muğla Metropolitan Municipality employee Şamil Karagöz has donated stem cells after being identified as a tissue match for a patient undergoing leukemia treatment. The stem cells collected from Karagöz were transplanted to the patient, who is continuing treatment at İzmir City Hospital.
Karagöz, who works as a Civil Engineer at the municipality's Department of Survey and Projects, Construction Works Tender Branch Directorate, had previously registered as a stem cell donor candidate. Once a suitable match was identified, the donation process was initiated.

Following the completion of necessary health checks and preparations, Karagöz performed the stem cell donation at İzmir City Hospital. The donated stem cells were transplanted to the patient receiving treatment at the same hospital.
Stating that stem cell and blood donation are of vital importance for patients, Karagöz expressed that being a donor can provide hope in a person's struggle for life. He also called on citizens who meet the necessary conditions to become volunteer donor candidates.
