Court date set for charges against Celal Şengör
The indictment for the trial in which Celal Şengör will be prosecuted for "publicly insulting the Turkish nation" has been accepted. The hearing will be held on September 11.
Prof. Dr. Celal Şengör had been under investigation by the Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office due to a statement he made.
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office submitted the indictment it prepared, alleging that Şengör committed the crime of "publicly insulting the Turkish nation," to the court.
This indictment was accepted by the court, and it was decided that Şengör would be tried with a request for a prison sentence of 6 months to 2 years.
The hearing for the case will be held on September 11.
