Kadir İnanır’s will case postponed: Nephew Levent İnanır objects to inheritance claims

The hearing at the Beykoz Courthouse for the opening of the wills of Kadir İnanır, one of the master figures of Turkish cinema, has been postponed because notifications could not be delivered to some family members. The new hearing date has been set for December 17 at 09:30.

It is stated that İnanır, who passed away on June 26 at the age of 77 while undergoing treatment at a hospital, had prepared one will in 2015 and two separate wills in 2022. The contents of the wills, which were drawn up in the presence of a notary, have not yet been disclosed to the public.

SIGNAL OF OBJECTION FROM THE FAMILY

İnanır’s older brother, his nephews, and Levent İnanır were present at the courthouse for the hearing. Lawyer Hikmet Altun Kalem stated regarding the inheritance process, "There are 28 heirs."

Levent İnanır stated that some family members could not attend the hearing due to address changes and being on vacation, adding that attendance would be completed at the hearing on December 17. İnanır said, "Everyone is his nephew; it will be completed. We will find those who are not here. It will be our final duty to our uncle."

In his assessment regarding the wills, İnanır claimed that the process has been ongoing since 2018 and that Kadir İnanır’s health condition affected his will. Levent İnanır said, "My uncle had issues with his volition. It is not very important what will be announced. He was receiving heavy treatment. He was using medication."

Responding to a question about whether Kadir İnanır experienced loss of consciousness from time to time, Levent İnanır said, "That also happened from time to time. There were periods of intensive care and intubation. He had three blood clots in 6 years."

Levent İnanır stated that the will prepared in 2015 was changed in 2022 and re-drafted within the same year, noting that this created a question mark for the family. The claim that Kadir İnanır, who never married and had no children, left his inheritance to his partner of 27 years, Jülide Kural, remains on the agenda.

Speaking to journalist Nurettin Soydan, Levent İnanır claimed that his uncle did not even leave personal belongings to family members, stating, "My uncle didn't even leave us a wristwatch or a tie. I would never believe he would do this."

Levent İnanır stated that they are not against Kadir İnanır leaving something to Jülide Kural, but that their objection concerns the entire inheritance. İnanır said, "We are not after the economic inheritance; we are angry that the family has been completely sidelined. Therefore, we will apply to legal channels."
