Mother of 5 went in with a cough, lost her life!

45-year-old Sultan Sever, who fell ill after receiving an injection at a health clinic in Gaziantep where she had gone for a cough, has died at the private hospital to which she was taken. In the first hearing of the case opened regarding the death of Sever, a mother of five, the court issued detention and arrest orders for the defendants.

The incident occurred on May 30, 2026. It is alleged that Sultan Sever visited the health clinic due to a cough. An ambulance was called for Sever, who fell ill after the injections administered there. Despite interventions in the intensive care unit after being taken to the hospital, Sever could not be saved.

Sultan Sever had been taken to the hospital after falling ill following an injection at a health clinic.

Sultan Sever's husband, Mustafa Sever, stated that his wife only had a cough on the day of the incident and had no other illnesses. Stating that he learned his wife had been given three consecutive injections at the health clinic, Sever said, "When I arrived, my wife had fallen to the floor and was swollen."

Mustafa Sever alleged that the Forensic Medicine Institute report revealed a link between the death and the injection administered. Sever said, "My wife had no illnesses. She only had a cough. We took her to the hospital in the hope that she would live. However, she lost her life in intensive care. I want those who were negligent in my wife's death to be punished."

Ali Sever, who went to the hospital with his mother, also claimed that the ambulance was called late. Ali Sever explained that while his mother was unconscious, he was given an oxygen tank and told she would recover shortly, but her condition did not improve.

DEFENSE OF THE DEFENDANTS HEARD

In the first hearing of the case, defendant Ayşe E. stated that she was a licensed midwife and had been called to work by defendant Ömer A. Stating that she dealt with patients coming to the health clinic, Ayşe E. reported that Sultan Sever said she did not feel well on the day of the incident.

Ayşe E. explained that she administered an injection to Sever by mixing drugs called Avil and Dekort, after which Sever fell ill. The defendant said that after she fell ill, she applied oxygen, administered an injection containing cortisone called Prednol against the possibility of an allergic reaction, called an ambulance, and administered adrenaline when her pulse dropped.

Defendant Ayşe E. alleged that while she was going to the police station to give a statement after the incident, Ömer A. called her and said, "If you say you work here, you will ruin both yourself and me; this place is unlicensed." Ayşe E. argued that she learned the business was unlicensed at that stage and that she did not tell the truth in her first statement because she was afraid.

Sultan Sever's relatives expect the incident to be clarified in all its aspects during the judicial process.

The court panel decided to issue a writ to the hospital to obtain records regarding the interventions performed and the drugs administered after Sultan Sever was taken to the hospital. It was ruled that after the records arrive, the file should be sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute to evaluate the fault status and the causal link between the death and the incident.

The panel decided to continue the detention of defendant Ömer Aslan. An arrest warrant was issued for defendant Ayşe E., citing the nature of the alleged crime, the fact that evidence had not yet been collected, and missing aspects in the file. The hearing was adjourned to address the deficiencies and obtain the necessary reports.
