Abdullah Uçmak, the mastermind behind the attack on İbrahim Tatlıses, released from prison for a funeral

Abdullah Uçmak, who was tried and convicted for being the mastermind behind the armed attack in 2011 in which artist İbrahim Tatlıses was seriously injured, was granted temporary leave from prison to attend a relative's funeral.

According to Urfa Bülten, Uçmak attended the funeral ceremony held for his brother-in-law, Bilal Bayrakçı, who passed away in the Kozan district of Adana. It was observed that Uçmak was kept under heavy security measures during the ceremony.

It was reported that Uçmak was taken back to prison after the funeral ceremony concluded. Uçmak's release from prison was strictly within the scope of the temporary leave granted for the purpose of attending the ceremony.

WHAT HAPPENED IN THE 2011 ATTACK?

İbrahim Tatlıses was subjected to an armed attack on March 14, 2011, as he was leaving Nurol Plaza in Maslak, Istanbul, with his assistant Damla Buket Çakıcı following the filming of his "İbo Show" program.

In the attack carried out with long-barreled weapons, Tatlıses was seriously injured in the head, and his assistant Çakıcı was also wounded. Tatlıses's driver, Hakan Çalışkan, escaped the incident unharmed.

In the case opened following the attack, Abdullah Uçmak was arrested on the grounds that he was the mastermind behind the attack and was convicted as a result of the trial.
