The news of the passing of Yücel Uçanoğlu, who worked as both a director and screenwriter in the cinema and television industry between 1960 and 2005, was announced by his family.

His family stated, "Our father Salahattin Yücel Uçanoğlu has passed away. His funeral will be held tomorrow following the noon prayer at Beşiktaş Sinanpaşa Mosque."
