Historian and author Mustafa Çalık has passed away

Dr. Mustafa Çalık, a historian, author, and political scientist who had been receiving treatment for cancer for some time, has passed away at the hospital in Istanbul where he was being treated. Having worked with many politicians in the past, Çalık was also an advisor to Turgut Özal.

Historian and author Mustafa Çalık has passed away

Historian, author, and political scientist Mustafa Çalık (67) has passed away at Koç University Hospital, where he was receiving treatment for stomach cancer.

Çalık had served as an advisor to Turgut Özal, the eighth president of the Republic of Türkiye and chairman of the Motherland Party (ANAP).

WHO IS MUSTAFA ÇALIK?

Born in 1956 in the village of Çalık in Gümüşhane, Mustafa Çalık worked with many political figures. After graduating from the Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, he began working at the State Planning Organization (DPT) in 1980.

Becoming an expert in 1984, Çalık served as an advisor to Turgut Özal, the eighth president of the Republic of Türkiye and chairman of the Motherland Party (ANAP).

Çalık also served as deputy chairman during the tenure of Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu, the founder and first chairman of the Great Unity Party (BBP).

In a statement he made in 2018, Çalık had announced that he had stomach cancer.
