5-year-old girl murdered by strangulation in Şanlıurfa

According to the information obtained, the incident occurred on January 15 in the Oğulcuk neighborhood of the Harran district. It is alleged that a 5-year-old girl named M.N.B. was murdered by strangulation by a person or persons whose identities have not yet been determined.

The murdered child was reportedly taken to Harran State Hospital by her relatives.

The child, who was taken under treatment there, was determined to have died and was transferred to the morgue of the Şanlıurfa Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy procedures.

In a statement regarding the matter, the Şanlıurfa Governor's Office said, "On January 15, 2025, in the Oğulcuk neighborhood of our Harran district, a six-year-old child named M.N.B., who was brought to Harran State Hospital by her family after falling ill, unfortunately lost her life despite all interventions performed at the hospital. As a result of the initial medical evaluation conducted at Harran State Hospital, judicial proceedings were immediately initiated to determine the cause of death, and the investigation conducted by the Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is being carried out meticulously. The matter is being closely followed by our Governor's Office."

CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE: INVESTIGATION CONTINUES METICULOUSLY

In a statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that a girl named M.N.B. was taken to Harran State Hospital by her family on January 15, 2025, after falling ill in the Harran district, and that she lost her life despite the interventions performed at the hospital. Stating that no evidence of sexual abuse was found in the autopsy performed, the statement said, "The exact cause of death of the victim M.N.B. will be finalized after the forensic medicine report is prepared, and the investigation initiated by the Harran Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident in question continues meticulously."

In a statement made by the Bar Association, it was said, "We are following the news that has come to the public agenda regarding the death of our 5-year-old girl M.N.B., who was brought dead to the Şanlıurfa Harran State Hospital 2 days ago, with deep sadness and concern. As the Şanlıurfa Bar Association, as a result of our meetings with the investigative authorities, we have obtained information that no evidence of sexual abuse has been found at this time. However, comprehensive forensic examinations and advanced testing processes are continuing to determine the true cause of death. The final results will be clarified after these studies are completed. As the Şanlıurfa Bar Association and the Şanlıurfa Bar Association Children's Rights Commission, we respectfully announce to the public that we will continue to follow the legal process regarding the death of our girl M.N.B. meticulously, just as we have from the beginning, and that we will provide all necessary support for justice to be served."
