Individual detained in connection with forest fire in Şarköy denies allegations
The individual detained in connection with the forest fire in the Şarköy district of Tekirdağ has been released under judicial control by the court. The individual stated, "I did not see the fire."
M.Y. (69), who was detained in connection with the forest fire in the Şarköy district, was released by the Criminal Court of Peace with a travel ban and judicial control conditions.
In his statement, M.Y. noted that he has been involved in animal husbandry since he was young, and that on the day of the incident, he took his animals to the vicinity of Ganos Hill with his son in the morning before returning home. M.Y. stated that he set out again in the late afternoon to take food to his son, at which point he was detained.
The suspect said, "I did not see the fire. I smoke, but I did not smoke on the day of the incident because I had not eaten breakfast, and I had not taken any with me. I do not accept the accusations against me."
A fire broke out in a scrubland area in the Uçmakdere neighborhood of Şarköy district yesterday morning and was brought under control by the teams' intervention. However, the fire restarted in the same area in the afternoon and spread to the forest area this time. The fire was completely brought under control during the night as a result of the intensive efforts of firefighting aircraft, helicopters, and the Forest Management Directorate and fire department teams arriving by land.
