Passenger bus overturns into a ditch in Bingöl
A passenger bus overturned into a ditch in Bingöl after the driver lost control due to heavy snowfall. According to initial reports, 4 people lost their lives and 32 were injured in the accident.
The accident occurred on the Bingöl-Diyarbakır highway near the Doğanca village exit in the Genç district.
According to the information obtained, the passenger bus belonging to the Mardin Seyahat company, with license plate 33 CPU 60, which was traveling from Şırnak to Erzurum, overturned into a ditch after the driver lost steering control.
In the accident, 4 people lost their lives and 32 people were injured. Upon notification, numerous health, police, gendarmerie, AFAD, and UMKE teams were dispatched to the scene.
The injured were taken to hospitals by ambulances and placed under treatment. Bingöl Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta also went to the scene to conduct investigations.
Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta said, "Today, we witnessed a bad traffic accident within the borders of Bingöl. A bus traveling from Şırnak to Erzurum overturned into a ditch after losing steering control at a sharp bend 8 kilometers before the Genç direction around 08:00. According to initial findings, we estimate that there were 44 passengers on the bus. There were 41 passengers, 2 drivers, and 1 assistant. The injured were immediately intervened.
AFAD, gendarmerie, UMKE, and health teams arrived at the scene. Our injured were taken to Genç and Bingöl state hospitals. Their treatments are currently continuing in the hospitals.
Again, according to initial findings, unfortunately, 4 of our citizens lost their lives. Currently, 3 of those who lost their lives were under the bus and one lost their life at Genç State Hospital. Of the injured, 24 are under treatment at our Genç State Hospital and 8 are at Bingöl State Hospital. Our work is continuing," he said.
