The separation process that began in the CHP with the resignation of members of parliament has also reflected on local governments in Bursa. In Bursa, 6 district mayors and a large number of municipal council members announced that they have resigned from the CHP and will continue their political activities under the umbrella of the New Party.

The decision of Nilüfer Mayor Şadi Özdemir, Osmangazi Mayor Erkan Aydın, Mudanya Mayor Deniz Dalgıç, Gemlik Mayor Şükrü Deviren, Mustafakemalpaşa Mayor Şükrü Erdem, and Harmancık Mayor Haşim Ali Arıkan was announced at a press conference held in front of the Heykel Atatürk Monument.

In the statement, it was noted that in addition to the mayors, 94 percent of the municipal council members also resigned from the CHP and joined the New Party. With this development, it was stated that the CHP has no district mayors left in Bursa.

Speaking about the establishment process of the New Party, Yeşiltaş said that the party's name and political line were determined by the people. Yeşiltaş stated, "The New Party, whose name was given by the people and whose political line was determined by the people, is truly a people's movement. We set out to create a new generation of political understanding together with our people."

Thanking the mayors who joined the New Party, Yeşiltaş stated that these mayors serve 60 percent of Bursa's population. Yeşiltaş expressed that the mayors of Osmangazi, Nilüfer, Gemlik, Mudanya, Mustafakemalpaşa, and Harmancık, along with the elected council members, took part in the New Party by "protecting the will of the people."
