Yıldıray Çiçek, an advisor to MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli and chief columnist for the newspaper Türkgün, has reacted to the slogans against Abdullah Öcalan and the "process" that have been chanted in football stadiums recently.
In his column in Türkgün, Çiçek argued that it should be investigated how the slogan voiced in the stands emerged and whether it was being chanted in an organized manner across different provinces.
Who produced this slogan? Who are the ones organizing this slogan to be chanted in the stands in different provinces?
In his article, Çiçek stated that his reaction to the slogans does not mean he is defending Öcalan, but that the point he primarily wants to draw attention to is the timing. Çiçek questioned the spread of these slogans in the stands at a time when steps toward ending terrorism are being discussed.
Çiçek also recalled a previous call made by Bahçeli, who stated, "Stadiums should not be turned into a field of provocation for those who oppose a Turkey without terrorism." Noting that Bahçeli emphasized the need to prevent infiltrations among fans, Çiçek wrote that he is curious about who is enabling these slogans to spread in an organized manner in stadiums.
